Professional Hopewell Dentist: Doing Away with the Amalgam Filling

When cavities begin to form at the top of the crown, your dentist might recommend sealing them off with amalgam fillings. However, there may be a chance your body will adversely react to the chemicals in the fillings, or, if already placed, will have to be removed immediately by your dentist. The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Technology, in its article, had stated that removing amalgam fillings came about over concerns of mercury contamination in the body. Residents of New Jersey have reason to be extra wary of the effects of mercury contamination; the Garden State is already overly cautious over reported high concentrations of mercury, specifically the very potent methylmercury compound, in its seafood. The chemical is already associated with triggering reactions leading to auto-immune diseases.
